Prerequisites: None

  • Learn how setting a goal to be paperless is essential in planning your EHR implementation
  • Learn the characteristics of a successful implementation
  • Learn how e-prescribing can boost your productivity

Course Content

Goal - No Paper Charts -- Work toward the primary goal: an office with no paper charts. This is the prime directive, and all good things flow from this accomplishment.
Office/Physician Characteristics of a Successful Implementation -- We have found that many characteristics that enable successful implementation of information technology projects or for that matter any office projects are human rather than technological factors.
Things to Think About Before Going Live -- Major factors to consider before your "go-live" date include workstation setup, network setup, power/operation issues, EHR/practice management integration, lab connectivity, dealing with paper from the outside and much more.
E-Prescribing vs. Fax-Prescribing -- E-prescribing allows a physician to write a prescription that is electronically transmitted to a pharmacy in such a way that the data goes directly into the pharmacy's computer system.
Study Workflow Problems -- Identify actual (and perceived) sources of inefficiency, delay, duplication of effort, or wasted time that you want an EHR to alleviate.
